DACA “dreamer” wanted by police for allegedly murdering a store owner in Texas

On a near-daily basis, things happen throughout the United States proving, beyond any doubt, that President Donald J. Trump’s efforts to enforce all immigration laws while dramatically improving border security are exactly the right policies for America.

As reported by Breitbart News, a Houston-area reporter’s investigation has revealed that a man accused of murdering a Texas store owner is allegedly in the country illegally thanks to President Barack Obama’s DACA amnesty program. This “dreamer” is now on the run after allegedly killing the business owner and shooting another man.

ABC13’s Jessica Willey reported that the accused murderer, Judas Deluna, 21, is in the U.S. illegally but was being protected from deportation thanks to Obama’s “Deferred Action on Childhood Arrivals” executive order signed in 2012. As Breitbart notes further:

The program allows undocumented immigrants brought to the U.S. illegally by their parents to receive temporary protected status from deportation. The federal government is supposed to conduct a criminal background investigation prior to adjusting the immigrant’s DACA status.

Deluna is wanted by the Harris County Sheriff’s Department for the alleged murder of Rahman Rupani, 30, outside DJ’s Food Mart in northwest Harris County Jan. 26. Willey reported that police believe the suspect got into a fight in the parking lot and then got a gun from his vehicle, after which he returned to shoot the man he was fighting with.

Rupani, whose father is the store’s owner, was inside; he came to the shooting victim’s assistance but was himself shot and killed.

“After three weeks on the run, Eyewitness News has learned Deluna is in the United States under the [DACA] program. He is undocumented, a so-called Dreamer,” Willey reported.

“This is not a depiction of who Dreamers are, who DACA holders are,” Cesar Espinosa, an immigrant rights activist with FIEL Houston said. “We, like everyone else, don’t want those people here. Don’t want bad actors in our community.”

Yes, but they are here, Mr. Espinosa, and they’re here illegally. And frankly, most Americans are sick and tired of people like you who make excuses for this kind of behavior. (Related: Opioid drug trafficking: Another excellent reason why Congress should fund Trump’s border wall NOW.)

As for the suspect, Deluna may have received his DACA status despite having a prior history of felony arrests and convictions, Breitbart Texas reported further, meaning that the entire process of vetting and qualifying DACA recipients is as broken as the program.

According to court records obtained from Harris County District Clerk Chris Daniel’s office, Deluna was handed a felony conviction for a terrorist threat in 2015. In addition, he was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon but that charge was dismissed as part of a plea bargain.

Earlier the same year, Deluna was charged with felonious evasion of arrest with a motor vehicle, but the judge only gave him four years’ probation and then deferred adjudication. Following the new charge of murder, prosecutors have since filed a motion to adjudicate the other charge.

Felonious criminal behavior runs in the Deluna family. His older brother, Eric, is serving a 30-year sentence after a failed attempt to ambush and rob a Los Zetas cartel drug shipment that was actually part of a federal sting operation. A gun battle ensued and a federal informant was killed while a Harris County deputy was wounded.

Their father, Manuel Deluna, is facing violent felony charges and, if the immigration courts ever get around to it, deportation.

Left-wing immigration activists have dishonestly attempted to portray every DACA recipient as an innocent victim of “unfair” and “racist” U.S. policies. While of course there are some stellar examples of Dreamers who just want a chance to make things right, it’s revolting to hear activists try to justify or validate a program (as well as the president who implemented it) that has directly harmed Americans.
